The figure skating program at the Institute for Athletic Medicine offers specialized exercise programs to help treat or prevent problems. Our therapists will work with you and your physician to get you back on the ice by developing an exercise and treatment program that’s tailored to your needs.

Our multidisciplinary treatment approach includes:
  • Skating-specific muscle imbalance assessment, including flexibility and strength testing
  • A biomechanical assessment to identify malalignment or imbalance and other compensatory mechanisms
  • Dry land motion analysis of skating-specific movements
  • Skate analysis and recommendations
  • Analysis of foot structure and mechanics
  • An exercise prescription that’s specific to the unique needs of skating and enhances your strength and flexibility
